Capacity building for market intelligence services of Export Promotion Agency Uzbekistan

Commissioned by IPD Germany and implemented by Globally Cool, the project aimed at building capacity for the Uzbeki Export Promotion Agency (EPA). The primary objective was to refine EPA's market information team's capabilities through training and coaching.

We have trained the market information team of EPA Uzbekistan through several virtual and onsite training sessions. We started identifying best practices from other BSOs from around the world. In addition we guided the team in conducting MI self-assessments, resulting in concrete quick wins and improvement plans. We followed through with coaching of staff and senior management in developing best market reports and in preparing effectively for trade fair participations.

Activities

• Reviewing and analysing statistical market reports, identifying high-potential markets for specific sectors in Uzbekistan.
• Providing training on market assessment techniques for EPA's market intelligence team.
• Preparing trade fair visits, namely Biofach and Anuga, exploring the innovation pavilion.
• Conducting on-site training on strategic stand selection at trade fairs.
• Developing comprehensive reports, hereby summarizing key findings from the trade shows.
• Equipping the team with skills to understand competitor activities, market trends, and buyer perceptions.

Results

• Mi and trade fair capacity was built within EPA through a combination of training, coaching, and assignments.
• EPA MI team was guided in successfully conducting interviews to gather qualitative insights.
• EPA MI team developed new skills for reviewing and analyzing statistical data for potential market reports.
• The team compiled draft reports, which were reviewed and refined through a collaborative process.
