Training of Trainers to enhance the Foreign Trade Training Centre in Egypt

Egyptian professionals upgraded their knowledge and skills as part of a German IPD supported project to strengthen the Egyptian Foreign Trade & Training Centre (FFTC).

We developed curriculum and methodologies and trained about 15 local trainers in digital marketing and effective trade fair participation. The trainers are now capable of sustainably delivering these training packages to exporters.

Activities

Curriculum development for online marketing training:

  • Internet & website strategy.
  • Usability and homepage success factors.
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Advertisement (SEA).
  • Google Analytics & performance.
  • Social media marketing (b2b).
  • E-mail marketing.

Likewise, for the trade fair participation training, we have developed the following modules;

  • Trade fair objectives
  • Selecting the right exhibition
  • Logistics and samples
  • Attracting visitors and obtaining media attention
  • Organizing for the event
  • Effective stand behaviour
  • Follow-up

These modules are best practices based, blended with interactive assignments and are all tailored to the Egyptian context and business environment. The trainings were followed by extensive soft skill training, training skills, online games, roleplays and coaching on the job. Also, we conducted a guided trade fair visit to Fruit Logistica, Berlin (Feb ‘20) for the trainers to learn and observe the reality of a big trade show.

In addition, we supported the FTTC in developing and implementing a business plan and a promotion strategy, including the optimisation of the brochure and a new design and strategy for the website.

Results

Among the deliverables are;

  • Curriculum development for a 2 days of interactive training on online marketing.
  • Curriculum development for a 2 days of interactive training on trade fair participation.
  • Training of 15 local trainers (15 local experts), now able to deliver the new courses themselves.
  • Promotion plan and business plan development, including coaching and training to FTTC staff.
  • Website strategy and functional design for FTTC website make-over.
  • Redesigned FTTC brochure.
