How do you transform traditional training into a dynamic, inclusive, and tech-driven learning experience? That’s the challenge COLEAD brought to us through the FFM-Plus Programme. Together, we rose to the occasion with creativity, co-creation, and cutting-edge AI tools.
Co-creation at its best: working hand in hand with COLEAD
From the very first kick-off session, this project was rooted in collaboration. Working closely with the highly dedicated COLEAD team, particularly Tracy McGee and Laura Wauters, we embarked on a joint journey in designing and producing training materials. It wasn’t just a handover of tasks; it was true co-creation. Every draft, discussion, and design decision reflected shared ownership and insight.
The result? A dynamic partnership that combined pedagogical expertise, design thinking, and AI-powered creativity to deliver powerful learning tools tailored to the needs of trainers across ACP countries.
Rethinking training with innovation at the core
To make the manuals more impactful, we:
- Conducted thorough research and focus groups
We kicked off with an in-depth review of best practices and pedagogical innovations, followed by focus group sessions with both COLEAD experts and end-users. These sessions helped us truly understand what trainers needed, and what wasn’t working.
- Developed practical, accessible, and well-structured content
The updated manuals are packed with real-life examples, clear structure, logical flow, and an emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity. Whether designing visual aids or writing textual content, trainers are guided step-by-step to create materials that are modern, engaging, and learner-focused.
- Integrated multimedia and AI tools for engagement
Recognising that AI is not just a trend but the way forward, we embedded tools like ChatGPT, Synthesia, Canva, and RenderForest to support content creation, video development, and visual storytelling. These tools allowed us to design engaging learning materials, including instructional videos, interactive quizzes, and infographics, all adaptable to different learning styles.
- Enhanced learning through modern educational technologies
We also incorporated platforms like Kahoot and Jamboard, reinforcing interactivity and participation in both online and in-person training environments. The result is a suite of tools and templates that make learning stick and empower trainers to keep their sessions lively and learner-centred.

By blending creativity, technology, and teamwork, this manual is more than a document; it’s a living tool that empowers COLEAD trainers across the ACP region to build capacity and drive results. Learners benefit from enhanced engagement, trainers enjoy clearer guidance, and COLEAD now has a robust resource that reflects their mission to elevate sustainable agriculture and agro-industries.
