Globally Cool and Uzbekistan’s Export Promotion Agency take BIOFACH trade fair

Joining the world’s largest trade fair for organic food and agriculture, BIOFACH, the Globally Cool team had an amazing experience guiding Uzbekistan’s Export Promotion Agency (EPA). With around 46,700 trade visitors from 130 nations and over 2,774 exhibitors, the event provided a platform to connect, learn, and discover.

As a part of a project funded by the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), Alfons and Alexandre from Globally Cool, respectively Managing Partner and International Trade Consultant, led a team from the Uzbeki EPA. The programme developed by Globally Cool aimed at training two teams within the agency: the trade fair organisation team and the market intelligence.

Spotting trends and gathering intelligence

To enhance the market intelligence capabilities of EPA’s team, Globally Cool guided them to complete a series of assignments related to a trade fair intelligence report. This report aimed to gather information on several key topics, including market trends, competitor performance, buyer demands, and perceptions of Uzbekistan-made products.

Benchmarking and good practice sharing

In addition to trend spotting and market intelligence gathering, the team also participated in benchmarking exercises and good practice sharing. They exchanged good practices for BSO trade fair services and ranked services that would align well with EPA’s objectives. The team also conducted an inventory of the required human, technical, and financial resources to implement such services at EPA.

Furthermore, the team participated in a guided exercise to identify positive and negative practices among various country pavilions. They evaluated pavilions from Africa, Poland, Estonia, Serbia, Turkey, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. During the exercise, the team recognised that Poland and Serbia demonstrated strong and consistent branding, which was identified as a positive practice.

Collaboration and future plans

The collaboration between Globally Cool, IPD, and EPA will continue in the coming months to build the capabilities of the market intelligence and trade fair teams at the Uzbekistan export promotion agency. Stay tuned for more news on the project!
