At the beginning of October, our international trade advisers, Esmée and Luz, visited the sensational Anuga trade fair in Cologne, Germany. This was (finally!) the first physical exhibit for Globally Cool after almost two years confined to the many digital alternatives. Our cool ladies had the opportunity to meet some of our clients and explore new, sustainable approaches. So, let’s find out how they’ve experienced their first physical fair visit after a long time!
The Anuga fair
But first, what is Anuga exactly? This fair is the leading global get-together for the food and beverage industry. Companies have the opportunity to present themselves, find new business partners, and get new economic perspectives. Also, exporters and buyers are given the chance to meet and discuss new opportunities. The trade fair was enhanced by a digital format, called Anuga@home. With this hybrid event, visitors had the chance to either attend the event physically or follow it digitally.
Globally Cool’s role at Anuga
“Globally Cool works on many different projects in the food and beverage sector and Anuga is the place to be to meet the objectives some of our clients have,” Esmée explains. During the event, Esmée and Luz met with multiple companies and buyers to discuss possibilities around the export of certain products from developing countries to Europe. They discovered a lot about markets within the food and beverage industry, what the specific requirements of these markets are, and what exporters expect.
Esmée describes some of her activities: “I met with the Food Export Council of Egypt; we have been working with them for half a year already. Together, we developed a market intelligence product, which helps them to export frozen strawberries to Germany. During Anuga, I guided them around and coached them on how to conduct interviews to get more in-depth information about the sector.” Besides that, Luz and Esmée met with UCHU Spice, another client of ours. They discussed our collaboration and future perspectives together.
The ladies also visited stands to explore the latest trends and examples of sustainable programs. We as a company are excited to learn more about this and explore how we can implement our own sustainability initiatives.
A hybrid and exciting event
Meeting clients in real life is surely something we’re all looking forward to. Esmée: “I got a lot of energy from this trade fair! I enjoy meeting new people from all around the world face-to-face. It is interesting to see what the latest trends are, and the many interesting products companies offer.”
We personally can’t wait to visit more trade fairs soon. Throughout creative solutions such as hybrid events, we hope to meet more of our clients—as well as new ones (of course!).
