Are you ready for export?

The Myantrade Export Readiness Checker is developed to tell just that. Globally Cool created this in close collaboration with the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization for companies from Myanmar. The Export Readiness Checker helps these companies gain good insight into whether they are ready for export and in which areas they still lack knowledge and skills.

The process of exporting can be very complex and, above all, challenging. Depending on your product or service, there are key elements that need to be considered before entering foreign markets such as identifying potential target markets, compliance with standards and regulations, understanding the legal rights and obligations of an export contract, developing sources of financing and many more. Sounds overwhelming right? It is therefore key to assess your company’s readiness before entering international markets.

Export Readiness Checker

The Export Readiness Checker is an online user-friendly self-assessment tool which allows micro and small-sized entrepreneurs to assess their export readiness against a set of criteria. The project was part of the Private Sector Development (PSD) in Myanmar, entitled ‘Strengthening Capacities of the Private Sector in Myanmar’, supported by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH).

Co-creation sessions

Together with Myantrade team members, we co-created the Export Readiness Checker. Their input during these sessions was very valuable for the final result of the tool. The checker consists of 28 questions on different subjects of export readiness with multiple choice answers. Moreover, after each answered question, it provides a detailed explanation and recommendations on subjects such as market research, distribution channels, market requirements, promotional material and more.

The results and how to use them

The results of this self-assessment will lead Myantrade to better understand if a (potential) exporter is ready to export and allows them to give tailored advice and support to each entrepreneur. Moreover, it provides input for their services, advisory, training programs, personal advice for quick wins and improvements, and it can even be integrated with the trade fair participation policy. For the entrepreneur, it is a self-assessment towards export readiness and creates awareness of the key elements that require consideration and action before entering international markets.

After finalizing the Export Readiness Checker, we delivered a half-day online training for the Myantrade staff on how to implement the Export Readiness Checker by themselves.
