Vietnamese fisheries exporters to further strengthen ties with Dutch importers
In an effort to further increase sustainable exports of fisheries from Vietnam to the Netherlands, a business forum will be set up with representatives of both industries. Typical Vietnamese fisheries products exported to the Netherlands include pangasius, shrimp and tuna.

Some representatives envisaged include:

  • Dutch wholesale and retail trade
  • Fishery Products Associations and/or Federations in the Netherlands
  • Seafood processors and exporters from Vietnam
  • Vietnamese Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) / co-organizer

And in addition, depending on the agenda and identified industry issues, additional representatives may include for instance:

  • Research institutions
  • Sustainable Trade Initiative / IDH
  • Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)
  • Marineship Stewardship Council (MSC)
  • Dutch embassy in Vietnam
  • Vietnamese embassy in The Netherlands
  • …….

Action plan with mutually agreed objectives and deliverables

Jointly the participants will address bottlenecks along the value chain. Every forum meeting aims to result in an action plan with clear and mutually agreed objectives, deliverables and responsibilities.

Forum kicks off @ ESE in Brussels – April 2013

The first forum meeting will be held in Brussels during the European Seafood Exposition, on 23 April 2013. A second one might follow in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, during the Vietfish tradeshow in June 2013.

CBI to facilitate and coach VASEP

CBI, an agency of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will facilitate the first forum. The second one will be facilitated by VASEP in collaboration with CBI. Globally Cool has been invited by CBI to support in setting up and facilitating the forum.
